The Seneca County Maternal Child Health Program offers education and support to women and families to promote choosing good preventative health practices.
Our two Certified Lactation Counselors (CLC) are available to provide education and support through home visits and/or phone calls. The education and support offered by our CLC’s could include:
• Pre-natal and post-partum education and support
• Referrals to other health professionals or programs
• Lactation counseling and support including proper breast milk storage
• Local resources for parents
• Newborn education and support
o Infant care and safety
o Safe sleep – SIDS
o Growth and Development
o Infant and child car seats for eligible families
• Safe home environment for your newborn and family resources and education
o Substance/tobacco use and cessation
o Domestic violence
o Second hand smoke
o Lead poisoning prevention
o Carbon monoxide detectors and fire alarms
o Immunization guidelines per the CDC
A Baby Café is another free resource available for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers to share their experiences with other mom’s while having additional access to support from CLC’s.
Currently Seneca County does not have a Baby Café; however, our CLC’s regularly support the Geneva Baby Café on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month from 10am – 11:30am which is located at
